Robin! The 1966 Aurora Model Kit Re-Built! Batman! DC Comics!

Here's the super-fun 1999 re-issue of the famed Aurora "Robin" model kit! The original kit was released in 1966 (within a blast of other Bat-kits), at the dizzying heights of Batmania! This titanic toy captures Robin in a dramatic action pose, shutting down a devious death-trap! In the late-90s, the riotous rascals at Revell re-issued the kit, making many die-hard comics and kit fans quite happy! I had so much fun customizing this, and lovingly re-building and painting it! Click images below to enlarge!

This is actually a re-issue of the mid-70s
Robin kit from the "Comic Scenes" line, using
an updated "Teen Wonder" head sculpt!

I used a paint marker to add the
"tiles" on the floor! I added my
own custom stickers for many of the
gauges and computer read-outs!

I loved using both matte and high-gloss paints
and sealants on the model, creating a nice contrast!

By restricting the base largely to black and silver, I
was able to nicely contrast it against Robin's
bright costume colors, making the figure truly
stand out!

You can see my heavily-customized Batman model
kit, the companion to this one, right here!

POW! Robin and His "Choke Hold!" Batman! 1973 Albert Bigley Art! DC Comics?!

Another journey into the vast vaults that house my childhood (child-ish?) drawings! This time, I come out with this 1973 masterpiece, whipped up by an 8-year-old me, featuring Batman's own teen sidekick, Robin! Callously cribbed from a re-issued 1967 BATMAN coloring book, here is Robin administering a very savage choke hold (while busting a few fingers in the process) to some felon or super-foe helper! Click below to enlarge, if ya must!

Above: So, the wretched robber is being apprehended in front of a rope-festooned
trap? In front of the very bank he was robbing (or is that a bank sign)? All for that
tiny bag of change he's dropping? And--Is that blood on the crooks' shirt!?

Above: The coloring book page that inspired me to craft such timeless art!

Above: Yet another inspiration for the above superhero sketch! I was so crazed
with the Aurora Robin model kit that I had to include its
chemical-splattered platform in my drawing!

The Batcycle! 1967 Aurora Model Kit Re-Issue! BATMAN! Adam West! DC Comics!

Here comes the bat-tastic Batcycle, from the 1966 BATMAN TV series (tho this sensational cycle debuted in the '66 BATMAN theatrical film)! This 2003 Polar Lights Aurora re-issue zooms your way! Painted with enamels and acrylics, this Bat-bike is a gem! It's small (about 5 inches long), but was a blast to assemble!  Incredibly authentic and detailed! Click images below to enlarge!

The figures were painted to evoke the look of the TV versions of
Batman and Robin! Note the detailing on the sidecar!

Holy separation issues! A great feature is that Robin's
sidecar includes a detachable go-cart!
