Found! Two more senses-shattering pages from my own 1974 Spidey epic! Drawn by me (age 9), this is the start of a tense tale of suspense, as Spider-Man faces his most fearsome foe of all! Harry Osborn is the new Green Goblin?! Sure, I was inspired by the then-current SPIDER-MAN storyline (today, they call them "story arcs") running in Marvel Comics in 1974, but here are 4 pages from my OWN (age 9) original take on the ever-present Spidey/Goblin entanglement! Even at that young age, I had many of the "Marvel method" tropes down. Spidey's patter. The pacing and cliff-hangers. The over-dramatic story titles. The details, such as Spidey running out of web fluid. Heh. I had fun, in this dry run for my future as a comics artist! Click to enlarge!

1973 Albert Bigley Spider-Man vs the Green Goblin Art! ZIPPP!!

Here is a wonderful and large illustration of the ever-amazing Spider-Man "zippp-ing" it to his arch foe, the nefarious Green Goblin! Drawn by me in the 3rd grade, and still in my "midget Spidey" mode, what's not to love? Gotta admire Spidey's pumpkin head, and Gobby's lovable mug!

Like most artists of that tender age, I was far more obsessed with details, like the costuming, than the overall composition, or things like anatomy. LOVE Goblin's initials on his bag o' tricks! That's not something you'd wanna lose. Click to enlarge!

Green Goblin Goof!

From 1976, here is my attempt to create some sort of poster or file of Spider-Man's "most fiendish foes!" The art is based on a Ross Andru-drawn issue of AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, and is evidence of how darn smart I thought I was, by running the finished drawing through my (manual) typewriter for the added text! Remember, this was way before computers and desktop publishing, so this was about as high-tech as it got then!

This was also produced years before the ubiquitous "handbooks" of the comics characters, too...

I'm sure I was inspired by the early 60s pin-up profile pages of the various villains, as illustrated by Steve Ditko...See first image...

The Goblin Remembers!

Ok, due to the requests of hundreds (from Sam Hundreds, the kid down the street), I'm back with more of my old artwork. This one's a doozy.

I was so into "re-creating" comic covers as a kid, so here's one from around 1974. Marvel was bringing back the Green Golbin in the comics then, in the guise of Harry Osborn, and this is my entrant into that little fun scene.

I love how I tried to introduce some new Goblin "inventions!" Looks like Spidey is trying to bust thru some sorta bag or force field Gobby is using....

I THINK that's a chair that's getting roughed up in the battle. They don't make 'em like they usta...Not much on backgrounds then. C'mon. Backgrounds were boooo-ring!

Again, meticulous attention to cover detail, such as logo and little corner box icon, which here looks like a tiny Spider-Man mite peeking in over the thought balloon! Heh.

So much for me trying to hide my signature in the art, ala John Romita Sr! VERY subtle!
