The AVENGERS! In 1964 and 1977! Rare George Perez Art! Iron Man! Marvel!

Here's another inside peek at the now-rare 1977 MARVEL MEMORY ALBUM calendar! As with most of the mid-to-late-70s Marvel calendar efforts, this power-packed package contained tons of special and exclusive illustrations that only appeared here! Glance below to glom the September 1977 entry, spotlighting the mighty Avengers! Drawn by the then-current artist on the book, George Perez (with slick inks by joltin' Joe Sinnott), this gem displays the assembling associates in their early years (from 1964's AVENGERS #8), with a dramatically different line-up! Click below to enlarge!

The above line-up consists of (left to right) Rick Jones, Captain America,
Giant-Man, Kang (the vain villain of the piece), Wasp, Iron Man, and Thor!

BONUS! Click below to enlarge that month's calamitous calendar page, featuring rare shots of many famed Marvel Bullpeners, such as Frank Robbins, Archie Goodwin, Gene Colan, and others!

BONUS BONUS! Click below to enlarge the captivatin' over to the AVENGERS issue that inspired the above calendar image!

Have you noticed that the calendar, on the 21st, says, "Marriage of Wanda and Pietro?" WANDA and Pietro? I thought that was strictly an Ultimate universe thing. ;)
