STAR TREK! A Bad 1967 TV GUIDE Review?! Spock! Kirk! Bones! Hirschfeld!

Hard to believe now, but STAR TREK wasn't always a revered cultural science-fiction touchstone (a status it now enjoys)! Glom this harsh 1967 TV GUIDE review (culled from this very ish), where one hapless writer picks (of all episodes to choose from) the "Shore Leave" telecast! Probably the most atypical show of the original three-year series run, this was one oddball and wacky episode for even fans to evaluate and enjoy, so imagine a reviewer who is coming in "cold" to the series! But, the brights side of all this? We get a wonderful caricature of Kirk and Spock (William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, natch) by master artist Al Hirschfeld, so...Click to beam up--er--I mean enlarge!
