BATMAN 1977!

From a June, 1977 TV GUIDE. A local line-drawn ad for the afternoon BATMAN rerun.

Kinda cool, from a days of no style guides and corporate approvals....

Look at that great TV line up! As I was telling someone the other day, the afternoon slot of 4 to 6 p.m. in local TV markets that used to be filled with syndicated reruns of Batman, The Flintstones, Tom and Jerry, The Brady Bunch, Popeye, Looney Tunes, Woody Woodpecker, etc., etc., is now long gone - replaced by Oprah, Dr. Phil, Maury and their ilk.

I suppose with Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, The Disney Channel, and so on the needs of children's programming is being amply met in the afternoon - but when's the last time you saw a Bugs Bunny or Popeye cartoon in a time slot aimed at young children?
